Marriage Before Attaining Legal Age Is Voidable, Not Void

The Punjab and Haryana Court ruled that any marriage under Hindu Marriage Act before attaining the legal age is voidable and not void i.e. the marriage can be called off at the discretion of either of the party but it is not void and can be registered after attaining prescribed age as mentioned in Section 5 (iii) of Hindu Marriage Act as the petitioner were below the legal age at the time of marriage.
